This Pre-Dates You. :D

So I've had the coughing fit from hell all this weekend. Rob loves sleeping next to me at the mo(why the flip wouldn't he, amirite? :P). Nights are really sweaty and sticky recently. It's roundabout this time I'll start craving winter again. Never pleased!

Bloody ey, I've had a load of faves recently. Cant get over the overwhelmingly nice response I've had to my red guy artwork. Working on some pieces here and there. I find recently though I'm fitting more into the DA appreciator bracket, yknow when I've had a particularly soul-gnawing day at work, it's nice to recharge my inspiration batteries by just randomly browsing through the work of the folks I watch.

The title is in reference to our recent visit by a couple of Rob's friends for his birthday on 6th July. Lads being lads, the talk of women long since past would crop up, and every time Rob stumbled onto his more dastardly escapades as a singleton in uni, he would look at me with big, apologetic eyes and blurt "This predates you, so...it's all ok! it's all gonna be oooooookay!" I do enjoy his cringing way too much XD

So yeah, Transformers 2 was freakin EPIC, I felt immense nerd lust for it. Cant say I don't find it more than slightly annoying that people are jumping on the "It's not citizen kane 2 so therefore it's a mindless 2 hour waste of my life" bandwagon. Really? REALLY?!?

I-I-I-i'm sorry. I forgot the original source matter (ie the 80s cartoon produced solely for the purpose of making toys) was a cornucopia of spirituality so ebbing with growth and life lessons that Aristotle would weep into his toga at its sheer mastery of sublime earthly frailty. *sniffusniffu*

It was never going to win an Oscar for most self-important artsy tripefest EVARS. It was never going to feature Meryl Streep OR be the stuff that would make Woody Allen piss his pants. It's a film about big fuck-off ass-kicking robots. I for one think it delivered.

I just finally got round to watching the first one, I know, I know, superlate, but I tend to watch the big stuff late so I don't watch it with all my mates going 'aww you gotta see...' or 'What, you want to see THAT it looks shit!' etc etc so I don't have any preconceptions, but point is, I freaking loved it. It was really exciting, and it was really funny without being really cheesy.

And Citizen Kane is bollocks anyway. I should know, I had to study the damn thing for a year at college <_<

Tbh, I wish I'd watched Transformers much earlier and Kill Bill a lot later cos I didn't really like Kill Bill much, it was too...I dunno, trying too hard to be really clever for me. Like there were a few cool bits but they took so long to happen I'd lost interest. Reservoir Dogs is still my favourite Tarantino.

Yeah, you have to watch anything several times whether you like it or not and you get sick of it xP. I have the same problem with Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Zoolander. Funny films, but my mates were obsessed with them through college and uni so I must've seen them enough times I'll be able to recite them even when I'm like 85 and gone senile.

ive literally been yelled at ofr not watching Kill Bill. that reaction you were on it, that "What...the FUCK, man?!" i know it very well XD I've not seen all of tarantino's stuff, to be fair. Im not sure if he directed dawn till Dusk, but as cheesy as it is I love that film XD

I feel the same way about Dumb and Dumber - seen it so many times i can recite it front to back. My boyfriend's best friends from uni had it on when they were staying here recently and I was like that annoying kid that says the dialogue about 5 seconds early all through the film XD

Dusk Till Dawn's Robert Rodriquez (Sin City, Once upon a time in Mexico, Planet Terror) with Tarantino writing. I saw that movie when I was way too little to watch it and I loved it but it gave me nightmares lol, so I love it purely cos it's the first movie that scared the crap out of me in an adult fashion lol. Sequels were rough though. Avoid xP.

If you've never seen a real asian/hong kong action flick, you'll love Kill Bill, but tbh...I would save yourself some pain and just rent Hard Boiled, Duelist and Iron Monkey instead. They're much better and don't have all the so called witty banter taking up 80% of the movie. I've been a major kung-fu film head since I was about 12 so by the time I saw Kill Bill it wasn't very impressive, and the fights in Iron Monkey and Duelist are a thousand times better shot and better looking and just...more awesome xD. And Hard Boiled is the daddy. Everyone should watch Hard Boiled.

Guilty secret, I can mouth all the lines to Smokey and the Bandit pretty much word perfect. I must've watched that thing about 20 times xDD.
